It’s an honor to be your child’s teacher this year! I love teaching Kindergarten and look forward to a wonderful 2019-2020 school year! This is my 17th year teaching in public schools and my 13th year at Creekmoor. I am a wife and a mother. I have two young children-one girl (9) and one boy (7). I have been married for 17 years. I began my education career at UMKC, where I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I worked at Berkley Child and Family Development Center while going to school. Later, I worked in the North Kansas City School District teaching in a multiage K-1 classroom. A few years later my husband and I moved to Germany for a couple of years (he was in the Army then) and I worked there as the director of the Family Child Care Program. While overseas I worked on and graduated with my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. In 2006, we returned to the US and I have been fortunate enough to teach grades K-2 the past years. Of course, my favorite is KINDERGARTEN!
I believe that when given the tools and inviting learning atmosphere all kids can learn! I believe in challenging your child and have high expectations for their learning this year! I plan to learn about each child’s personality and learning style thus providing me a basic idea on how to interact and engage them in daily lessons.
I believe that the classroom is a home away from home. Here we treat each other like family with mutual respect and courtesy. We focus on effectively solving problems, becoming friends, and working together. Our classroom provides a great opportunity for lasting memories and lasting friendships among students!
I believe in open communication and encourage you to share any information with me that you think may be helpful to the education of your child. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
I am excited for a new year and look forward to partnering with you and your child!
